What Restaurant in Seattle is Perfect for a Vegan Date Night?

Plum Bistro tops the list of restaurants in Seattle that is perfect for vegan date nights. This Capitol Hill restaurant is a Seattle classic, and for good reason.

Their vegan menu includes everything from mac & cheese to seitan “scallops” that are both inventive and delicious. The elegant and cozy industrial-chic setting is ideal for a special dinner for two.

Black-owned Lum Bistro has carved out a special place for itself as a refined, vegan-only dining establishment.

Chef Makini Howell launched Plum Bistro in 2009, and since then, it has won praise from all throughout the country for its creative and delicious plant-based menu.

The cuisine at Plum Bistro is a lovely waltz of comforting classics and inventive twists. Chef Howell’s love of using seasonal, fresh ingredients is evident in dishes like this vegan version of the popular Southern dish, spicy Cajun mac and cheese, which is sure to please any crowd.

Options like the Cajun-fried seitan “steak” with wild mushroom gravy or the jerk tofu “burger” are for the more daring diner; they provide a delightful and unexpected take on common meat-based dishes.

Other Seattle Restaurants That Are Perfect for a Vegan Date Night

1. Araya’s Place

Herbivores and omnivores alike have long favored this vegan Thai restaurant for its hearty plant-based fare such as crispy fried Brussels sprouts, massaman curry, and tom yum. Take advantage of the daily lunch buffet.

While there is plenty of excellent Thai food in Seattle, we venture to declare that Araya’s Place has the most flavorful Thai food in the city. Though there are many delicious vegetable-forward meals on the menu, the massaman banana curry is a must-try.

2. Moto

The only two things this modest house in West Seattle, which also seems to resemble the one from Up, does two things really well: thick, rectangular pies in the Detroit style and flavor-twisted soft serve piped within Transylvanian pastry cones dusted with cinnamon.

Here, pizzas are created with Betty, a 100-year-old sourdough starter, and topped with a variety of toppings, such as deconstructed clam chowder elements or Filipino pork belly, sausage, and calamansi lime sauce.

3. Dumpling The Noodle

If the vegan options at Dough Zone and Din Tai Fung have not satisfied you, Wallingford’s (and Kirkland’s) Dumpling the Noodle will work wonders.

Its menu of vegan dumplings and noodle delights pays up to its name, combining flavors and recipes from Sichuan, Beijing, and Shanghai.

The vegetable rice noodle soup, chili garlic tofu lamen, and vegan dumplings are some of the dishes that stand out.

4. Kati Vegan Thai

Thai cuisine already lends itself to vegan possibilities, and Kati Thai not only capitalizes on those chances but also provides an upgraded eating experience.

Classics like Pad See Ew and Tom Yum are always a good choices. Depending on your mood or spice preferences, the devil wings and angel wings are must-try appetizers. Khao soi is also a very tasty curry noodle meal.

5. Habesha Cafe

Formerly known as Amy’s Merkato, Habesha Cafe is a combination restaurant, cafe, and deli that continues the Eritrean and Ethiopian traditions.

Find a companion to share The Full Habesha Vegan Combo with; the vegan food is great, but what really makes it appealing are the owners, Filli Abdulkadir and Yodit Seyoum, who greet patrons like family.

So, there you have it. Even though Seattle has a wide range of restaurants that a great for vegan dates, Plum Bistro tops the list.
